Hi I am looking for any information as to where I check British subjects who were born, lived and died in South Africa. One specific name is George Cecil Brooks Panton b. Port Elizabeth SAf 1880 to Edward and Clara. George migrated to Australia. Any assistance greatly appreciated

Hello macbain13,
welcome to FHUK.
Good luck with your research.
There is a 100 year embargo on birth records. These records can only be accessed at the various archive repositories and are not available online.

Thanks for that. Quick on the mark and O0 yes George Brooks was his son. I am lead to believe that Edward may have had something to do with Civil Service perhaps the Police or Railway but that could be just a good family tale. George Cecil married in Singleton NSW AUS in 1908 it is thought that he jumped ship but again that could be another story.

Hi Lyn.
There is a tree on the Ancestree site, that appears to either yours or a relatives.
They have an Edward Brooks Panton b1908. Broke.NSW.
Let me know if this is yours or not. If it isn't, then hopefully you can contact them.

Thanks Steve, I am tracing the George Cecil Brooks Panton b. Port Elizabeth South Africa is the Broke NSW connection, I live 10ks away. Also am aware of the information on the Ancestry page. Am focusing on the connection with South Africa but am also aware that the 'Brooks" Panton name comes up from Jamaica as well in the Slave Owners register. I know it can be coincidence but I am hoping the Christian name Brooks in connection to the Pantons will lead to some answers. Thanks again Lyn
