Hi Dave :)
I thought I'd look for Selina for you, not much luck.
In 1881 I did find Selina Hurst (btw she was Hurst in 1901)
married bn Warwickshire 1850, boarding in 172 St Pauls Rd London.
No spouse. Looks like a lodging house.

Hello Ozn,
Thanks for looking.
Yes, Hirst and Hurst, but usually more Hurst in the older records.
I've had no luck. I don't know if they are related or it's coincidence George was staying at a boarding house run by a Hurst.
Too many possible marriages for Selina.

Dave

I saw this in Rootsweb
I finally found my GGgrandmother because of one little (or not so little) word on the Free BMD Site! The word was Hirst. Several times she's turned up as Selina Hirst and several times she's turned up as Selina Sykes. Turns out she's Selina Hirst Sykes before she became Selina Stocks.I've ordered her birth certificate and it came in todays mail.
Selina was born March 3, 1845. Now the next question is, are her parents the same John Sykes and Hannah Hirst that I found on the LDS site or not? The folks I found were married in 1826, so it seem that Selina was born 19 years into the marriage if these are indeed her parents.I'm hoping that one of our listers has access to an 1851 census for Yorkshire and will do a look up for me.Selina was born on Sweet St. Holbeck, York.
Many thanks in advance, Stacy Flavell Fox.

Thanks DW.
I wonder if that is a link between my two Hirst families.
I will look further. The Hannah Hirst in my tree married Shakespear Sikes.
In the census it is Selina H Hirst and a widow, born Bidford Warwick.
Married name would be Stocks so that would mean she reverted to her maiden name after her spouse died. ???
I think it's a different Selina. Lots of Selina Hirsts. When looking for a marriage I found about 10 possible.

Dave
