Married in 1890 St.Mary Hoxton, London, and turn up in Shoreditch,1901.

Thomas Granger -61. Occ - Furniture Manufacturer.
Emma Granger -50. b. Brentwood, Essex.

Transcribed as GRANGER in 1901.

Hi Steve,

Not sure that this is the right one, although the ages seem to match!

In 1891, Thomas B Granger 52, Emma M 49, Marie Peacock 18 and Annie Clarke 16 are in Ely, Cambridgeshire.

Thomas B is a Fruit Grower born Ely Cambridge.

Let me know what you think! If it's not the right one, I'll have another look!

PS Just found him in Shoreditch in 1891 (on FMP). Will investigate further and get back to you!

1891 - The children are all called Grange, but I think they should all be Merritt ie children of the wife Except Thomas who is a Grange.

You haven't asked for any other census returns. I am just wondering where the children were in 81. I cant find them.
Also it seems funny to me that George, Harry, Annie and Mary were called Merritt and Merriott was Emma's maiden name but she did not marry until 1889. Thomas and Ellen were together in 1861/71/81, no children, but they didn't marry until 1864?? So have we three wives, Ellen, Emily and Emma, If the same person did Emma/Emily have the four children when she met Thomas, if so she may have been married before, or have I gone wrong

Just noticed another thing, Emily was from South Weald, Essex - Emma from West Holey Berks

Steve - I don't think you have seen this. Look at George, there aren't any dittos under Grange. The rest of the children are ditto'ed under Merritt ezcept Thomas

Hi Dave,

Emma/Emily does appear to be from South Weald & Brentwood. To me, they are the same place.
Yes, she was married before.

I have no interest in the Merriot/Merritt/Merion Children. George & Mary Anne Merritt appear as niece & nephew in 1901, plus Minnie(1894) & James Thomas Grange(1897).

James Thomas Grange baptism, appears in the London records, although I haven't found Minnie's baptism, just her birth registration.

I have yet to chase up Thomas Grange jnr, but I'll be doing that later.

I'll be back after I've watched the F1 Grand prix qualifying.:rolleyes::2fun::2fun:
