Hello,
I'd like a look up please in 1881, probably Lanark, for the following family.
William McLUCKIE
Ann b. 1857 ? Rutherglen, Lanark ?
Martha b. 1873 Bothwell, Lanark
I'm interested in seeing if the census listing agrees with the date and place for Ann.
Thanks.
Regards,
Dave

There are numerous Anns and 3 Annies Dave - ages 7 in Holywell; 4 in Dalziel; 55 in Milton all Lanark -these are districts of residence, birthplaces not given without pay to view and there are too many for guesses.
There is an IGI transcription listing for 1881 - you might want to look through that, beware of mistakes but that's the case with enumerators listings as well.

Hello woodlander,
Thanks, but I thought the LDS 1881 was England only.
Re the birth for Ann. I have an Ann with the birth date and place as listed. I was hoping to see if the census listing showed it might be that Ann or if it shows clearly it is a different Ann by having a different birth year and place.
I will admit it was a fishing exercise but I was really hoping Martha would be the one that would pinpoint the family.

Dave

I tried Martha but only find one in her fifties. I didn't find a William McLuckie either.
The IGI site should have the transcriptions listed I think - sorry, I didn't check their site, but the 1881 census transcribed by IGI is on SP as an alternative to the "proper" one; still payable but only 1 credit a time as opposed to 5 for the actual images.
Do you have enough specific details to find a birth/marriage certificate?

Hello woodlander,
It's also possible my Ann McLUCKIE died between 1861 and 1871.
Just spent 1 more credit and didn't find the death on the list.
Searching for a death from 1861 to 1960 for an Ann McLUCKIE with other name McLUCKIE in Lanark and no date of birth returns zero hits. Also zero for all of Scotland but the marriage of William McLUCKIE to Ann McLUCKIE does exist.

Dave

Hello woodlander,
Thanks, but Ann is not worth the 5 credits. I was just trying to see if I could find a death or a marriage for Ann and seem to have found nothing.
Ann is Robert & Jane BELLs youngest daughter. Their first son Alexander is my line. I have his marriage:
On 16th June 1863 at 15 Burnhill Street, Rutherglen Alexander McLuckie (24), Overseer in a coal mine married Ann Malcolm (22), cotton thread worker. Parents Robert McLuckie, overseer in a coal mine/Jane Bell - Alexander Malcolm, Cotton and Silk weaver/Ann Cochran (deceased). Witness: John Park and Ann Bowie.
Regards,
Dave

Hello woodlander,
Thanks for looking. We tried with Ann so it's on to something else now.

There is a birth listed for Ann McLuckie Rutherglen 1857 and a marriage in Partick Lanark in 1884 to a George Mackintosh
There are 3 more in that area within 1873 - 1890 range and 1 for Dunbarton (close enough) but all are listed as Annie

Hello woodlander,
Thanks. I agree the 1872 marriage was probably too early. :) I can't see a death for Ann MACKINTOSH. Partick also makes more sense than Bothwell. Her parents are in Partick in 1881. Ann is not with them. Ann has not been found in 1871 either yet.

Dave

Hello woodlander,
I will put Ann's sister Margaret in 1891 census board.

Dave
