I notice I have nearly used my allowance for attachments. Can you please tell me how I remove them? What is a Tag and its purpose?

Hi Dave,

If you go into your control panel, and click on Attachments. It will list them all.
Just tick in the box relating to the attachments you need to delete, to add more.

Hopefully, whilst the site is being redone....you/we will get a larger 'allowance' of attachments, but no promises.

As for the Tag, I'll have to pass on that one.:confused:

Found this in FAQ's... Depending on the rules of the forum, you may use HTML code to produce these effects. However, more often than not, the administrator will have disabled HTML code, and opted instead to use vB Code: a special set of tags which you can use to produce the most popular text-effects. vB code has the advantage that it is very simple to use, and is immune to malicious javascripts and page layout disruption.

Well now. :)

TAG = a non-hierarchical keyword assigned to a piece of information.

In other words, if you have a post on say the Australian board about a person named Fred BARRACLOUGH and he was missing from everything except the Electoral Rolls and shipping records you might enter the following as tags for that topic: Australia, Barraclough, shipping

The tags can then be used as a keyword in future searches.

As another example. I have HAMILTONs in Ireland and Queensland and Victoria and related family BLACKLEYs in Ireland, Scotland and Queensland.

If I had them properly tagged I could find either family in Ireland only or one in Scotland only or both families in Queensland only.

Of course, their use is not limited to family names and places. You can use tags for events or first names or whatever.

Some sites don't enable the use of tags and force members to place family name and place and a date or date range in all titles so those keywords can be used in the search function.
