Hi All

Ok this one has had me stumped for a while.

My Great Great Grandfather was John Peter Johnson, born in Sweden in about 1843. Living in Toxteth Liverpool by the 1860's. All census records just say " Born Sweden "

Is there any way I can find out when he came here? or where in Sweden he came from? Or am I unable to go anywhere with this small info?

Another thing is that assume he may have changed his name to an English version on arrival in Liverpool? His marriage certificate in Liverpool list his surname as Johnseon? Is it possible he could have Swedish names?

ie

John -Johan?

Peter-Petter?

Johnson-Johansson?

Im just guessing these names.

I noticed there are 2 John/Johan for Liverpool. One with wife Ellen, and another with wife Margaret J.

Would he have been married twice.

Anyhow, it appears he was from Gothenbourg, if I have the right fella.

Ok My John Peter Johnson married Jane Quick 28th September 1869 St Barnabas Church, Toxteth Park.

In 1891 and 1881 he is a Labourer ( probably at Docks ) I can not be certain on earlier census for him. I have one possible that also list his father as John, born Sweden abt 1815. But really I can not be certain of him in earlier census.
