Hi Braveheart,

Just had a look on the 1901 census for England, there is a John stewart born abt 1883 Scotland, he is in the Third Gordon Highlanders Imperial Yeomanry, Aldershot Military in Stanhope and Wellington Lines. What do you think?

Hi julie, I have 2 john stewart mic both killed in Mesopotamia, Iraq in 1916 one born in Edinburgh the other is born in perthshire from the 2nd battalion Black Watch. there was only 2 scottish regiments in Iraq. from about 200 j stewart I am down to 2 men.
thats why I am trying to find John simpson stewart where he was born, but he didn't use his middle name in the army records. We know he is buried in Iraq and now down to , was he born in Edinburgh or perthshire.
thats why I was checking out John Stewart and Catherine mcdonald stewart because they moved to Gorebridge area of Midlothian and I don't when
thanks braveheart
