Van Heddeghem

Trying to find information on my great great grandfather, Firmin Van Heddeghem, Prof. of Music, born in Belgium. Moved to London after 1851 - he does not appear in that census.
He married Rosa Griffin in 1859.
His place of birth is listed as Meligan, Belgium.

His father, as per the marriage certificate of Firmin and Rosa, was Edward Van Heddeghem, also a Professor of Music.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks Steve. I'm new to this so not sure if what I'm doing is correct. I do actually have all the census information including 1881 when they lived in London. The surname wasn't too badly butchered in that one. I just haven't been sure how to go about searching in Europe.
