I have traced back the family to John Jones abt1828 Holywell Flintshire .
In 1851 he is in Llansamlet and married to Margaret abt 1832 Hamburg and a child Sarah Elizabeth abt 1850 Llansamlet .
I got the birth cert and it shows John as the father and Margaret nee Meyers as the mother.
I then got the marriage cert on Nov 1848 and it says Margaret Meyer sailors widow with her father named John Jacobs a labourer. I can then see another marriage in 1850 on the BDM with the same names
Has anyone got an explanation It was thought that Margaretta was a Schumacher from Hamburg

Hi Rob,
There is another couple in 1851 John and Margaret Jones, she being born in Hamburg British Subject, could be that the other marriage is hers.

Yes thats the one John Jones is a Copper borer and Margaret is said to be born in Hamburg in 1832 .
Their daughter is Sarah Elizabeth .
On Sarahs birth cert it says her mother is Nee Meyers so I got the marriage cert for 1848 Its John Jones and Margaret Meyer (Seamans widow )with father named as John Jacobs .The family always thought she was a Schumacher.
Looking through BDM I noticed the same names marrying in 1850 Thats why I am puzzled .
I wanted to know how I could take this forward .
How can I find out more about Margaret Meyer Seamans widow from Hamburg Would she be on a nationalisation list Thanks

I found Margaret Jones abt1832 living in Llansamlet in1901 She is classed as Deu Bristish subject What does this mean .
I found on Family search a John Jacobs from Germany living in Hampshire with his wife Margaret also from Germany The name of her father on the marriage certificate
