I'm trying to verify who are the parents of this Jonathan Metcalfe born around 1823 in MonkWearmouth, Durham. He appears as a married 28 yr old on 1851 UK Census. Don't know whether he's a John or Jonathan or a Metcalfe with or without the E at this stage. Any descendants out there who can oblige with data.

On FamilySearch.org, I found the birth of John Metcalf in 1825 in Monkwearmouth, Durham. His parents were John Metcalf and Ann.

Wondered if he may be yours!

If you click on "details" of the submitter, you can find his name and address in NSW, Australia. (Not sure whether I'd be breaching copyright by posting them here).

Another search of the same site shows the birth of John Metcalf (senior) on 23 Dec 1805, in Monkwearmouth. His christening was on 20 Jan 1806.

His parents were Matthew and Mary Metcalf.

His spouse was Ann and he married in 1824.

All events were in Monkwearmouth.

There is also another entry for John Metcalf b 23 Dec 1805 saying his wife was Ann Young, married 11Jun1826 at St Peters, Monkwearmouth, and also that he died 1891 in Sunderland, Durham

Thanks for your help Josie and also to you too Dave. Looks like some very in depth examination of several years census and Family Search needs to be done by me to eliminate other Johns. I'm supposedly looking for parents John and Ruth who had son Jonathan born 1825 or thereabouts. I appreciate that you took the time to have a look.
