Could you help me work out how to proceed next in going further back in time, starting with George & Evelyn?
Marriage certificate states: George Applegarth & Evelyn Grover were married on 4th January 1941.
George a bachelor and profession being a (LNER) London & North Eastern Railway Shunter is 24 and living at 69 Brunton Street, Darlington, with his father being John William Applegarth and profession stated as a Railway messenger.
Evelyn a spinster and profession being a Conductress for the Corporation Trolley Buses is 22 and living at 20 Henry Street, Darlington, with her father being Thomas Grover and profession stated as Co-operative Society Drayman
The certificate was signed in the presence of John (not fully readable- Kilorn?) & Hilda Applegarth

I do have Ancestry.co.uk and would appreciate guidance if anyone has time to do so.
Thank you in anticipation :)
