Hi,
I am trying to find some more details on my Grandfather i.e. his birth details.
I have his marriage certificate and burial one as well, but neither of these throw any light on where he was born.
I was wondering whether there is any member out there that lives locally to the London Metropolitan Archives and could look up my late mother's birth in the register (which probably would only give his name, but hopefully his address may be there) and as my mother was born in 1922 - would there be a 1931 census that can be viewed on microfilm at the archives.
If there is anyone that can help, I will put all the details on private message.
Thanks
marianne

Hi Marianne,

Sorry bad news for tthe 1931 census. The census was completely destroyed in 1942 due to a fire.

See link below to the 1911 census org.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for that info. Does it mean that the 1921 census is not even to be viewed in situ?

What was his name....sometimes church records or the services will give up a place of birth..regards Lee.
